Sophie and I are often asked, "How do you attach synthetic double-ended dreadlocks to real hair?" Don't worry. It's easy! Below is a how-to. Enjoy!
Attaching Synthetic Double-Ended Dreadlocks
Choose where on the dread you want to attach it to your head - we generally start at the nape of the neck and from there we work our way up and forward. If you're not planning on doing your entire head in one sitting you can either wrap what you've completed in a scarf until you've finished putting the dreads in or you might want to start a little higher on the head and do some of the bottom dreadlock attachments later.
Take the amount of hair you want to use to attach the dreadlock
Let's say your dread is two feet long, you may want to attach the dread to the head one foot in or you may want it so that one end is longer than the other and the dreads or kind of layered.
Take the group of hair you want use to attach the dread, separate it into two groups, then use the middle of the dread (or whatever section of the dread you choose to use) and use that as your third section of 'hair' for the braid.
Securely Tie Off the Dreadlock
After you're finished braiding the hair around the dread take a piece of thread or string and tie it off. If you use thread, we recommend double the thread, then doubling it again so that the thread will be four pieces of string instead of just one. This will help to ensure that the dreadlocks will be secure and that the dreads will not fall out.
Voila! Your done. It's that easy!
Enjoy your dreads and feel free to e-mail us if you have any questions.
